The Grand Canyon. One of my favorite places to have visited. The moment you get off the bus you are swept into a feeling of awe and grandeur. To see the endless outcroppings of red rock in so many varied shapes as far as the eye can see is a reminder of how small we are. It is a humbling experience.
Catching a sunset by one of the cliffs is mesmerizing. While there are good pictures of the Grand Canyon online and elsewhere, I think there is little variety in what it captures. I took multiple pictures while being amazed by the variety of views. I was so awed that I was compelled to make a short video in the hopes that it would capture some of the feeling that one can experience from being at the Canyon.
Along with the natural views, walking along the South Rim allows for you to visit a variety of historic locations such as the Kolb brothers’ photography studio, the luxurious El Tovar hotel, Hopi House which was designed by a woman architect in the early 1900s and other sites.
From my time at the Grand Canyon and all that I saw, what sticks with me the most is that feeling of being amongst something grand and beautiful.
